If someone asked me the most important key to truly exceptional leadership, partnership, connection, collaboration, or any relationship… I would say the ability to hold space for others.
Now, I’ve begun to see this phrase overused. Unfortunately by some who may not actually know what it means. But that is likely because they haven’t actually experienced it themselves.
Holding space for another isn’t just putting down your phone during your one on one conversations or giving everyone a “seat at the table”. These are important to being present. But not truly holding space.
Holding space doesn’t have room for trying to fix someone. Because holding space for others is truly seeing ALL of who that person is AND accepting EXACTLY who they are in that moment.
Because they are exactly who and where they are intended to be!
Holding space is the natural ability to see and accept the heart and the true essence of that person.
It’s a connection of the soul.
If you don’t have someone in your world that provides this for you, I encourage you to work on holding space for yourself.
